RIVED, recovering waste

The Management for the Recovery and Exploitation of Waste of the Rungis region (or RIVED) is a local public establishment which handles the treatment of household and similar waste collected in the territory of ten municipalities in the south-east of Paris : Ablon-sur-Seine, Arcueil, Chevilly-Larue, Choisy-le-Roi, Fresnes, L’Haÿ-les-Roses, Orly, Rungis, Thiais and Villeneuve-le-Roi. Recycling is now part of a circular economy approach by promoting waste reduction, reuse and production of raw materials . Serving a population of 225,000, RIVED processes around 150,000 tonnes of waste per year in its facilities, which it recovers over 97% in the form of recyclable materials or energy.
